Tom Sands

Tom Sands, MBA, MHA, FACHE, serves as Market President, North Shore for Beth Israel Lahey Health which includes roles as President of Beverly, Addison Gilbert and BayRidge Hospitals, along with overseeing Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.

Tom is an accomplished leader with more than 30 years of experience in health care and community hospitals and will continue to be a key part of advancing Beth Israel Lahey Health’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care in community settings. He joined BILH in 2021 as President of Beverly, Addison Gilbert and BayRidge Hospitals. In this role, Tom has introduced and expanded partnerships with multiple educational institutions, including Endicott College and North Shore Community College. He and his team also successfully launched robotic surgery at Beverly Hospital and partnered with Lahey Hospital & Medical Center to expand ambulatory service offerings in Burlington and New Hampshire.

Previously, Tom served as President of Carney Hospital in Dorchester, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations and led a management team focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in the community. Before that, Tom was Chief Operating Officer at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, where he expanded patient service offerings, increased volume and implemented initiatives to strengthen the patient-family experience.

Tom came to Massachusetts from Georgia, where he spent 20 years in successive leadership roles at The Medical Center of Central Georgia (now Atrium Navicent Health), a 637-bed teaching hospital. There, he oversaw customer service, diagnostic and therapeutic services, hospitality and support services, supply chain, ambulatory care and operations.

Tom earned his master’s degrees in business administration and health administration from Georgia State University and his bachelor’s degree in biology from Morehouse College. He is board certified in health care management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
