Lunch & Learn: Shining a Light on Suicide Awareness

September marks National Suicide Prevention month – a month to remember the lives lost to suicide and the individuals, families, and communities that have been impacted by it.  It is also a time to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention : sharing education and messages of hope.

Please join us on Tuesday, Sept. 24, for a poignant lunch & learn session. Paired with Abbie Rosenberg, Founder & Executive Director of Mental Health Collaborative (MHC) and Susan Hanly, clinical trainer for MHC, Stuart Meurer, President and CEO, and Hannah Ginley, Chief People Officer, both of Windover Construction, will briefly share their story of losing an employee to suicide and how MHC helped them navigate the aftermath of the tragedy.

MHC will walk us through the four components of Mental Health Literacy while focusing on how to foster a supportive environment. Participants will leave better equipped to contribute to suicide prevention efforts within their communities and workplaces.

From this session, you will learn:

·         How to talk about mental health, the language we use and why it is so important.

·         Stigma and how we help to decrease it.

·         How to recognize signs and symptoms of mental illness.

·         What to do if you are worried about your own or someone else's mental health.

·         How to take care of mental health and manage work/life balance.

·         When and where to find help for mental health and resources.

·         How you can help bring mental health literacy education to schools, communities, and workplaces.

Registration and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the presentation from 12 to 1 p.m.
