The “Women in Our Midst” Luncheon Series continued Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Boston Marriott Peabody, with an engaging conversation with two popular North Shore women, Sue Tabb & Deirdre Budzyna.

Sue Tabb of Newburyport is the morning weekday on-air talent at Magic 106.7 and recipient of 2 Gracie Awards for her segment called “Exceptional Women.” Deirdre Budzyna is a professor at Northern Essex Community College and owner of Acting Out Productions. Together they wrote “Waking Oz,” a best-selling self-help book that encourages women to rediscover their passions and strengths after focusing on motherhood. The book and their podcast use the story of “The Wizard of Oz” as a metaphor for personal growth.

The room was packed with 135 attendees who enjoyed a dynamic conversation with the authors, led by THRIVE Co-Chair Mary Anne Clancy, about “waking the power of Oz.” (“You always had the power, my dear; you just had to learn it for yourself.”)

Following the program, Tabb and Budzyna met with attendees and signed books, including the 75 free books purchased for guests by Institution For Savings.

THRIVE was thrilled to host two tables of students from Salem State University and Gordon College, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Rockland Trust and Silver Lining Solutions.

Thank you to our many sponsors, including Platinum Sponsors, the Institution for Savings and Silver Lining Solutions.

THRIVE is an initiative of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, with the mission of supporting women — both personally and professionally, through all stages of career. Men are always welcome to attend THRIVE events as well.
