In a gathering that brought together community members, local businesses, and advocates, the feeling of community and support was overwhelming at THRIVE’s most recent networking event on Thursday, March 28th.
Plummer Youth Promise, known for the incredible work they do for foster youths aged 13-22 on the North Shore, was highlighted as the Chamber’s latest “Networking for a Cause” recipient, where attendees were encouraged to help support the foster youths in the organization by providing gift cards to either Target, Walmart or Amazon. As always, attendees were incredibly generous and truly helped support the cause in a major way.
Midway through the evening, Nicole McLaughlin, Executive Director of Plummer Youth Promise, addressed the group with in incredibly impactful speech, focusing on the importance of supporting these young individuals and highlighting the efforts of her staff, who do just that, day in and day out. She noted that “Every young person, regardless of their age or status, deserves a loving family to care for them”, and how that motto carries over throughout the organization as a whole.
McLaughlin also highlighted their recent efforts of finally breaking ground on the rebuild of their campus at Winter Island in Salem. This project will create dignified, trauma-informed facilities for the youth and families they serve, finally matching the standard of excellence set by their groundbreaking work.
