The Emerging Leaders recently hosted a “Lunch and Learn” session with guest speaker David Morales, general manager of UniCare. During a discussion with Emerging Leaders chair Chris Pellegrini, David shared advice and lessons with the audience of about 30 young professionals. He described his approach to effective leadership and implored the group to not be afraid of failure. From failure, comes lessons.
David told the group about his upbringing and youth in Puerto Rico and Lynn, and how those years shaped his character and attitude. He gained toughness, grit, tenacity and competitiveness.
“You have to be tough to live where we lived,” he said.
David spoke of the early years of his career, and how he balances his work and personal lives. David encouraged the group to remain life-long learners, and to stay true to their beliefs and who they are.
“Embrace deeply your values,” he said.
