Cape Ann Savings Bank names new VP, Chief HR Officer

Starry Poe brings experience in both banking and HR to role

Cape Ann Savings Bank recently announced that Starry Poe joined Cape Ann Savings Bank as VP, Chief Human Resources Officer. Starry brings more than 30 years of Banking and Human Resources experience to the position.  

Starting her career in retail banking, Starry gained experience in every position within a bank  branch from teller to branch manager, before transitioning to human resources. Most recently  Starry held the position of VP, Director of Human Resources at Webster First Federal Credit  Union. In her role, Starry is most proud of truly making a difference with  employees with her daily interactions. Looking through the lens of the employee prior to  making recommendations or decisions is key and as Starry says, “Human comes before the Resources.”

When asked about joining the Cape Ann Savings Bank team, Starry states, “I am elated for the opportunity to work alongside Marianne and team. The camaraderie since stepping foot in the door has shown me a glimpse of the culture and what’s to come. I am  truly looking forward to my journey!”

President Marianne Smith stated, “we are very fortunate to have Starry join the Senior  Management Team of the Cape Ann Savings Bank, individuals with her caliber of experience in both banking and human resources don’t come along often. The energy and enthusiasm that  Starry brings to this newly created position is contagious, I look forward to seeing it blossom throughout the organization.“ 

A resident of Saugus, Starry has been involved in several North Shore non-profit organizations and served on various boards and committees including Operations Bootstrap, Lynn; Visiting  Nurses and Community Health, Arlington; West Medford Community Center, Medford; and  Building Bridges through Music, Lynn. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, followed by earning her MBA at the New England College of Business and  Finance, Cambridge College in Boston. Starry holds a certification as an FDIC Facilitator and  received an award by Wells Fargo of “Business Banker of the Year,” a designation she earned  during her retail years.
