Chamber members gathered at Ipswich Country Club for the final Business Insight Breakfast of the year, hearing from Jim Brett, president of the New England Council, the nation’s oldest regional business association.
The New England Council is highly regarded for its nonpartisan, consensus-based approach to policy advocacy.
Jim discussed the political climate in D.C. and its impact on critical issues such as funding the government and increasing the debt limit. He also briefly discussed his extensive work with individuals with disabilities.
Jim currently serves as the Chair of President Biden’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. He has been appointed to this prestigious position by three presidents.
Jim Brett also serves as Chairman of both the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission on Intellectual Disability, and the Disabled Persons Protection Commission. He is also Vice Chairman of the National Council on Disability.
The breakfast forum was sponsored by UniCare and Newburyport Bank.
Thank you to our host, Ipswich Country Club, which was adorned with festive decorations for the season.
