FALL 2006 Internships & Co-ops

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce offers a variety of events and programs designed to give you the most value out of your membership. The Chamber hosts more than 100 events each year designed to help your business grow. These include talks and seminars from our region’s leading business and government leaders, roundtables and discussions on current issues and trends affecting business and networking opportunities to build your business contacts.

Events include:
Monthly Economic and Public Policy Breakfast Forums, Business After Hours Networking, Annual Dinners and Business to Business Expos. These are just some of the events and programs targeted to improve the economic environment for our members. These events are a powerful asset to help enhance and grow your business.

Monthly Programs

Breakfast Forums:
feature timely topics and important community speakers monthly. Network with over 200 business leaders. Held the first Wednesday of every month.

Business Networking After Five:
meet new and exciting people each month at business-card networking functions. Held at prominent North Shore locations with hors d’oeuvres and entertainment. Average attendance is 150 people. Held the last Wednesday of every month.

6-Minute Networking:
works in a similar nature to the already popular "speed dating" where attendees have the opportunity to quickly meet with a number of business professionals to see if there is a mutual connection. Attendees meet participants, one-on-one, for six minutes. Then they will move on to another 6-minute "mini-meeting" with the next person for up to 40 people.

Legislative Affairs Committee:
meet Senators and Representatives and discuss important issues such as transportation, health care, affordable housing, workforce development, education, and energy issues that impact the North Shore. Held monthly.

Human Resources Professionals Group:
monthly discussion of issues impacting local businesses in the HR sector.

Annual Events

North Shore Business to Business Expo:
a 2,000 person, B2B conference and expo held in February featuring nearly 100 exhibiting companies and special conference speakers. Make invaluable contacts at the largest expo north of Boston.

Honors Scholars Recognition Dinner:
1,000 person banquet in May honoring top five percent of graduating seniors from twenty-seven North Shore primary and secondary schools. It’s a great opportunity to bridge business and education by sponsorship of scholars.

Summer Golf Tournaments:
Do business on the course at one of our premier, summer business golf events. Outings are held north of Boston and played at region’s most exclusive golf courses. Designed for networking, find your best customer here!

Membership Drive:
Join over 150 North Shore Business Leaders in October at this fun and exciting event! Volunteers learn telemarketing and sales skills from SDA while fostering relationships with North Shore Firms. All compete for Grand Prizes, Tropical Destinations and B&B getaways!

Annual Dinner:
an 88 year-old tradition of celebrating regional prosperity, its the largest gathering of business leaders on the North Shore, attracting nearly 1,000 attendees. Past Speakers include: Ted Kennedy, Mitt Romney, John Kerry, Kerry Healey and others.

Online Business Directory:
features business listings and contact info. All members receive complimentary listing. Over 25,000 hits per month.

Chamberblog:
get updated in real-time when the latest news and issues arise with RSS feeds. Members can subscribe to blogs about recent legislation, members in the news, economic development, breaking issues, surveys and more! Get connected as it happens.

Monthly Email Event Calendar:
an online reminder features events, programs, and special events for that month. Call the Chamber at (978) 774-8565 with your email address to always be connected to the latest business news and events on the North Shore!

Website Advertising /Banners/Buttons/Logos/Towers:
The future is here - hit your target market online! If you're not already advertising on the web, you should be! Sponsor many or few website banners or email banners to brand your company to several thousand visitors each week, with a direct link to your website!

Print Resources

Published Membership Directory of Businesses:
features membership listings and government officials contact info. All members receive complimentary listing! Known as the North Shore “yellow pages”. Used for primary referrals and circulates to over 5,000 companies yearly!

Monthly Business Journal:
members receive a complimentary monthly Journal featuring Chamber issues, events, programs, new member listings, photos. Circulates to over 2500 business leaders.

Other

Group Rate Health Insurance:
members receive special group rate discount and can join any of the five offered health maintenance organizations (HMO’s).
