A Well-Balanced Region...
The North Shore is made up of 40 communities, has all the amenities of a major metropolitan area, but without the congestion
and other problems so often associated with larger cities. Those who come for a visit find it hard to leave.

Recreation
As the name suggests, the region boasts some of the best in waterfront recreation. With roughly 70 miles of coastline, a beach
is never more than half an hour away. Choose from over 30 beaches whose characters are as diverse as the North Shore itself.
If you would rather be out on the ocean, there are ample opportunities to do that as well. The ports and harbors of the North
Shore boast historic traditions as well as plenty of present-day activities.
Tourism
The natural beauty of the North Shore makes it a favorite destination of tourists. From whale watches out of Gloucester, to the
history and mystique of old Salem, to the gift shops and art galleries of Rockport, to the countryside of Ipswich and Topsfield,
to the restaurants of Beverly and Salem and waterfront views of Essex and Newburyport, the North Shore plays host to hundreds
of thousands of visitors every year.
