The North Shore Chamber of Commerce Economic & Public Policy Breakfast Forum on Wednesday, November 4th, at the Peabody Marriott Hotel will feature a talk by Judge Robert A. Cornetta, Salem District Court on the new Salem Court Project (J. Michael Ruane Judicial Center), challenges facing the court system, its economic impact on Salem central business district and the new parking garage recently approved for Salem.

Over the past year the J. Michael Ruane Judicial Center has grown from a hole in the ground to the massive steel structure that can be seen today. Besides providing new, state-of-the-art facilities for District, Superior and other courts, the facility guarantees Salem's place as judicial seat of the North Shore for decades to come.

That's very good news for the city's central business district, which, once the tourists are gone, relies on the day time activity generated by the courts, law offices and affiliated enterprises. And there was further good news recently in the announcement by District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett that he state has signed a new, five-year lease that will allow him to keep his offices on the top floor of the old telephone company building on Federal Street on the New Salem Court Project.
